In support of the Duterte administration and the Go Negosyo initiative to promote inclusive business, Robinsons Supermarket is helping local onion farmers have better access to the retail distribution market and a wider reach for their products on the strength of the supermarket chains’ nationwide presence.
For this joint public-private sector partnership, as championed by Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol and Presidential Adviser on Economic Enterprise and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion, Robinsons Supermarket to date have already bought a total of 6,250 kilos of red onions from the local farmers of Nueva Ecija and continues to order.
Robina Gokongwei-Pe, President and COO of Robinsons Supermarket said making these agriculture products available in the supermarket encourages customers to buy homegrown produce which will help boost the support for our local farmers. “As a company borne out of a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit, we are happy to provide the impetus to help grow local business enterprises. This is just our little own contribution towards nation-building.”
The local red onions are currently being sold initially in the supermarket’s 31 stores in Metro Manila and will also later be made available in all of the 140 Robinsons Supermarket branches nationwide.
